ATF THERMOSENSOR

1991 Mazda Protege 4WD, AutomaticSECTION ATF THERMOSENSOR

Remove the valve body cover. Remove thermosensor connector. Using appropriate sensor socket, remove thermosensor. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . Using an ohmmeter, connect the test leads to the appropriate terminals. Refer to the ATF THERMOSENSOR TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION  table. Also, see Fig 3 and Fig 4 . Measure resistance while warming up the ATF. Make sure resistance drops as indicated. Refer to the appropriate ATF THERMOSENSOR RESISTANCE  chart. If ATF thermosensor resistance is not as described, replace ATF thermosensor.
