Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Run engine at idle. Verify swirl control valve actuator rod is retracted into swirl control valve at idle. See Figure . Gradually increase engine speed and verify rod extends at speeds greater than 4000 RPM. If necessary, check following components listed under this heading:

  • Electrical Signal
  • Solenoid Valve
  • Swirl Control Valve Actuator
  • Swirl Control Valve Actuator Arm
  • Vacuum Signal
