Stall Speed Test: Preparation

1991 Mazda 323 Base, StandardSECTION Preparation

Check and adjust coolant, engine oil and ATF levels. Warm engine and transaxle to operating temperature. Block front and rear wheels on both sides. Set parking brake. Connect tachometer to engine. Ensure engine idle speed and ignition timing is correct. See the appropriate G - TESTS W/ CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.

CAUTION: Stall test generates high ATF temperatures. DO NOTΒ  hold throttle open at stall speed for more than 5 seconds. Allow engine to idle for one minute to cool fluid between each test.
