Engine Speed Switch

1984 Mazda B2000 Sundowner Sport, StandardSECTION Engine Speed Switch
  1. Connect voltmeter probes to throttle positioner 3-way solenoid electrical terminals without disconnecting electrical connector. Start engine and increase engine speed to 2000 RPM.
  2. Slowly decrease engine speed and note speed at which current flows to circuit. Engine speed should be 1600-1800 RPM on California models with A/T, and 1400-1600 on all others.
  3. Slowly increase engine speed again and record engine speed at which current does not flow. The difference between the recorded speeds should be 150-250 RPM. Replace engine speed switch if it does not operate as outlined.
