SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Service Precautions.

NOTICE:

w/ Navigation System for HDD:

After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

3. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transmission) Removal

4. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission) Removal

5. REMOVE UPPER NO. 1 CONSOLE PANEL GARNISH (for Automatic Transmission) Removal

6. REMOVE UPPER NO. 2 CONSOLE PANEL GARNISH (for Automatic Transmission) Removal

7. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transmission) Removal

8. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission) Removal

9. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission) Removal

10. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL COIN BOX (w/o Ashtray) Removal

11. REMOVE FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Ashtray) Removal

12. REMOVE REAR ASH RECEPTACLE ASSEMBLY (w/ Ashtray) Removal

13. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX REGISTER ASSEMBLY (w/o Ashtray) Removal

14. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX REGISTER ASSEMBLY (w/ Ashtray) Removal

15. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX Removal

16. REMOVE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Check that the engine switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly as shown in the illustration.





NOTICE:
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

(d) Remove the 2 bolts, nut and center airbag sensor assembly.
