Only Rear Switch Cannot Operate Rear Sunshade: Procedure

2010 Lexus LS 460L AWDSECTION Procedure
  1. CHECK FOR DTC (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM) 
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    2. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC U0210 is output B

    B → See step   7 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK VEHICLE EQUIPMENT 
    1. Check if the vehicle is equipped with the Ottoman.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      for 5-Passenger with Ottoman, w/o Ottoman A
      except 5-Passenger with Ottoman B

    B → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (REAR CONSOLE SWITCH) 
    1. Use the Data List to check if the rear sunshade switch is functioning properly. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST .
      REAR CONSOLE SWITCH

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range (Display) Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Rear Shade Switch Rear sunshade switch / ON or OFF ON: Rear sunshade switch is pressed
      OFF: Rear sunshade switch is not pressed

      OK

      Rear sunshade raises or lowers.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK → See step   8 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CURTAIN SWITCH - REAR POWER SEAT SWITCH)

    1. Disconnect the r3 curtain switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the r1 rear power seat switch connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      r3-8 (SW1) - r1-20 (SW1) Always Below 1 Ω
      r3-15 (GND) - r1-5 (GND) Always Below 1 Ω
      r3-8 (SW1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      r3-15 (GND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK CURTAIN SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Temporarily replace the curtain switch assembly with a new or normally functioning one. Refer to REMOVAL .
    2. Check that the rear sunshade can be raised and lowered by using the curtain switch assembly.

      OK

      Rear sunshade can be raised and lowered with curtain switch assembly

    NG → See step   9 

    OK → END (CURTAIN SWITCH IS DEFECTIVE) 

  6. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (REAR CONSOLE SWITCH) 
    1. Use the Data List to check if the rear sunshade switch is functioning properly. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST .
      REAR CONSOLE SWITCH

  7. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  DTC U0210: Lost Communication with "Seat Control Module C" 
  8. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  9. REPLACE REAR POWER SEAT SWITCH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY 
  10. REPLACE REAR POWER SEAT SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL - Step 1 
  11. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING
