Ignition Coil And Spark Plug: Installation

  1. INSTALL SPARK PLUG 
    1. Using a 16 mm plug wrench, install the 8 spark plugs.

      Torque: 18 N*m (184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf)

  2. INSTALL IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Perform a visual inspection on the spark plug tube gasket.

      Standard 

      INSPECTION RESULT CHART

      Inspection Area Inspection Result
      Upper surface No scratches or deformation
      Outer lip No scratches or deformation
      Inner lip No scratches

    2. Slide a new spark plug tube gasket onto the ignition coil as shown in the illustration.

    3. After installing the spark plug tube gasket, firmly insert the ignition coil as shown in the illustration.

    4. Install the 8 bolts.

      Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) 

    5. Connect the 8 ignition coil connectors.
  3. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY RH  (See INSTALLATION )

  5. INSTALL BATTERY TRAY 
    1. Install the battery tray with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 47 in.*lbf) 

  6. INSTALL BATTERY 
    1. Install the battery.
    2. Install the battery insulator.

    3. Install the No. 2 battery clamp bolt and battery clamp with the nut.

      Torque: 2.9 N*m (30 kgf*cm, 26 in.*lbf) 

    4. Connect the battery cable clamp.
    5. Connect the positive (+) battery cable to the battery terminal.

      Torque: 5.6 N*m (57 kgf*cm, 50 in.*lbf)

  7. INSTALL SKID CONTROL ECU BRACKET  (See INSTALLATION )
  8. INSTALL SKID CONTROL ECU  (See INSTALLATION )
  9. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET  (See INSTALLATION )
  10. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  11. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  12. INSTALL AIR CLEANER INLET COVER  (See INSTALLATION )
  13. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  14. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  15. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  16. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    1. Perform initialization (see INITIALIZATION ).
      NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
