SRS Service Tips
DTCs are the most important source of information when troubleshooting the SRS. Always inspect DTCs before disconnecting the battery.

The SRS is equipped with a backup power source. If work is started within 90 seconds after disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, the SRS may deploy.

The center airbag sensor needs to be replaced anytime an airbag has deployed.

When troubleshooting SRS DTC B1650/32, check the Occupant Classification System (OCS) for DTCs before disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery. DTC B1650/32 is an indication the SRS system has detected errors in the OCS operation.

Use a volt/ohmmeter with high impedance (10 kOhm/V minimum) for troubleshooting the electrical circuits.

Even in the case of a minor collision when the SRS does NOT deploy, the following parts should be inspected:
- Steering pad
- Front passenger airbag assembly
- Center airbag sensor assembly
- Front airbag sensor
- Front seat inner belt assembly
- Seat position sensor
- Front seat airbag assembly
- Side airbag sensor
- Curtain shield airbag assembly
- Rear airbag sensor
- Front seat outer belt assembly.

Before repair work, remove the center airbag sensor assembly if any kind of shock or movement is likely to occur to the airbag sensor during the repair.
- Using a hammer near an impact sensor could deploy an airbag.
- Movement of the center airbag sensor assembly could cause the curtain shield airbags to deploy.

NEVER use SRS parts from another vehicle. When replacing parts, replace them with NEW components.
