LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR (From July, 2003): Adjustment

2005 Lexus ES 330SECTION Adjustment

HINT:

Since the centering bolt is used as a door hinge set bolt, the door can not be adjusted with it on. Substituting a bolt with washer for the centering bolt will allow for adjustment of the hood hinges and hood lock.

  1. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR PANEL SUB-ASSY 
    1. Check that the clearance is within the standard value.

    B 3.6 +/- 1.5 mm (0.142 +/- 0.059 in.)    
  2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR COVER 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the 12 clips and luggage compartment door cover.
  3. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT 
  4. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM HOOK NO.1 (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  5. REMOVE REAR FLOOR FINISH PLATE (See  REPLACEMENT  )

  6. ADJUST LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR PANEL SUB-ASSY 
    1. For forward/rearward and right/left adjustments, loosen the bolts.
    2. For a vertical adjustment of the door front end, increase or decrease the number of washers between the hinge and door.
    3. Tighten the bolts after adjustment.
      1. Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in..lbf)

    4. Using a hammer and a brass bar, tap the striker to adjust it.
    5. Tighten the bolts after the adjustment.
    1. Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in..lbf)
