Hydraulic Motor: Reassembly

1998 Lexus SC 300SECTION Reassembly
  1. If installing oil seal, use hammer, Oil Seal Installer (SST 09951-00280) and Handle (SST 09951-07100). Tap oil seal into hydraulic motor housing until oil seal is .177-.217" (4.50-5.50 mm) below edge of hydraulic motor housing.
  2. Install plate washer and snap ring. Apply Dexron-II fluid to lip on oil seal. Install front thrust washer in hydraulic motor housing.
  3. Install drive and driven rotors in hydraulic motor housing with dot marking on rotors facing upward, toward hydraulic motor cover. Install drive shaft and rear thrust washer.
  4. Install NEW "O" ring in groove on hydraulic motor housing. Install hydraulic motor cover. Install and tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ .
  5. Ensure drive shaft rotates smoothly. Temporarily install fan-to-hydraulic motor nut on end of drive shaft. Install INCH-lb. torque wrench on fan-to-hydraulic motor nut.
  6. Measure rotating torque required to rotate drive shaft. Rotating torque should be 2.6 INCH lbs. (.3 N.m). Remove fan-to-hydraulic motor nut.
