Component Inspection: Notes

2021 Kia K5 LXS, AWDSECTION Notes
  1. Ignition "OFF".
  2. Shift lever position "P" and Ignition "ON".
  3. Connect KDS and select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)" mode.
  4. Using a KDS, Clear DTC.
  5. Operate the vehicle within DTC detecting condition in general information. (Turn right and left at least 1 time)
  6. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)" mode again.
  7. Is the same DTC stored in the system?

    Good 

    • Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or MDPS unit connector or was repaired and MDPS unit memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for backed out terminal, improper mating, broken locks, looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, damage or poor terminal to wire connection. Repair or replace as necessary and Go to "Verification of Repair " procedure.

    No Good 

    • Carefully re-do this troubleshooting guide steps.
    • If no problems were found with the circuits or connectors, replace the MDPS Unit and Go to "Verification of Repair " procedure.
      1. * If necessary, follow the "Vehicle S/W Management" steps after replace the MDPS unit.
