Inspection Procedure

2020 Kia Soul LX, Standard TransSECTION Inspection Procedure
  1. Ignition "OFF".
  2. Connect KDS to "Data Link connector (DLC)".
  3. Ignition "ON".
  4. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)" mode.
  5. Using a KDS, Clear DTC.
  6. Operate the vehicle within DTC Detecting Condition in General Information.
  7. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)" mode again.
  8. Is the same DTC stored in the system?

    Good 

    • Fault might be intermittent and caused either by poor contact in connectors or wiring harness, or it has been repaired and control module memory is not cleared yet. Thoroughly check terminal of battery, all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.
    • Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Repair " procedure.

    No Good 

    • Carefully re-do this troubleshooting guide steps.
    • If no problems were found with the circuits or connectors, replace the ESC and go to "Verification of Repair " procedure.

    * In case of replacing ESC, perform following "Vehicle S/W Management" procedures

CAUTION: In case of replacing ESC, perform following procedures.

  1. Auto Detected Configuration Reset (ESP (ESC) Only).
  2. Ignition "ON".
  1. Connect KDS to "Data Link connector (DLC)".
  2. Perform "Auto Detected Configuration Reset (ESP(ESC) Only)" in "Vehicle S/W management" with KDS.
