Inspection Procedure

2020 Kia Soul LX, Standard TransSECTION Inspection Procedure
  1. Ignition "OFF".
  2. Connect KDS to "Data Link Connector (DLC)".
  3. Ignition "ON".
  4. Monitor "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)" with KDS.
  5. Clear any DTCs stored in the system with KDS.
  6. Re-check DTC in the system with KDS.
  7. Did the same DTC is stored in the system?

Good 

  • Fault might be intermittent and caused either by poor contact in connectors or wiring harness, or it has been repaired and control module memory is not cleared yet. Thoroughly check terminal of battery, all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.
  • Repair or replace as necessary and go to "Verification of Repair " procedure.

No Good 

  • Carefully re-do this troubleshooting guide steps.
  • Disconnect units/modules constituting the CAN communication one by one and check that the DTC is cleared. If the normal value is measured when disconnecting the connector, replace the relevant units/modules and go to "Verification of Repair " procedure.
