Good

  • Remove each unit/module connector that constitutes the M-CAN communication network, and check if the DTC is cleared
  • If a steady value is measured when the connector is removed, check the grounding short of the respective component and communication line.
  • Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Repair " procedure.

No Good

  • If the voltage of the measured waveform is at the approx. 12V, check for short circuit to battery.
  • If the voltage of the measured waveform is at the approx. 0V, check for short circuit to ground.
  • Check the circuit open or connector disconnection.
  • Check for a short circuit between the wiring and the chassis ground.
  • Perform repair or replacement as necessary and perform the "Verification of Repair " procedure.

When to See a Mechanic

Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

  • You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
  • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
  • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
  • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
  • You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
