Signal Circuit Inspection

2015 Kia Soul EV BaseSECTION Signal Circuit Inspection
  1. IG "ON" & ENG "OFF".
  2. Disconnect Stop signal electronic module connector.
  3. Measure the voltage between Pin No. 5 (stop lamp switch signal) terminal of Stop signal electronic module harness connector while switch is being pressed.

    Specification:  Approx. 12V

  4. Is measured value within specification~

    YES 

    • Go to Next step procedure.

    NO 

    • Check the status of the Brake Switch 10A fuse in smart juction block & stop lamp switch. Repair or replace as necessary and go to "Verification Of Vehicle Repair " procedure.
  5. Connect Stop signal electronic module connector.
  6. Measure the voltage between Pin No. 6 (stop lamp switch signal) terminal of Stop signal electronic module harness connector while switch is being pressed.
  7. Measure voltage between Pin No. 36 (stop lamp switch signal) terminal of IBAU harness connector and chassis ground.

    Specification:  Approx. 12V

  8. Is the measured value within specifications~

    YES 

    • Go to Next step procedure.

    NO 

  9. Measure the voltage between Pin No. 4 (RSM signal) terminal of Stop signal electronic module harness connector while switch is being pressed.
  10. Measure voltage between Pin No. 37 (RSM signal) terminal of IBAU harness connector and chassis ground.

    Specification:  Approx. 12V

  11. Is the measured value within specifications~

    YES 

    • Fault might be intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECU's connector or was repaired and ECU memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and go to "Verification Of Vehicle Repair " procedure.
