PSSM Programming
Please perform the following steps when the Power Side Step Module (PSSM) has been replaced:
- Connect the diagnostic scan tool to the vehicle.
- Perform the vehicle PROXI Alignment procedure.
- Navigate to the PSSM "Misc. Functions" menu to select and perform the hard reset routine.
- While in the PSSM menu, enable/configure the PSSM function.
After replacement of the PSSM, the vehicle needs to be driven. During the drive, ensure the vehicle odometer is above 3 kilometers (2 miles) and the speed is above 16 km/h (10 mph) at least once.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:
- • You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
- • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
- • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
- • You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
