Smart Lighting Module
| 1 - SLM |
The Smart Lighting Module (SLM) are located on the back of each sides of the front lamp units. They are Controller Area Network-Flexible Data (CAN-FD) Bus modules that control the front exterior lighting functions, which includes the headlamps, daytime running lamps (DRLs), turn lamps, park lamps and fog lamps.
When the Body Control Module (BCM) receives front exterior lighting requests, the BCM sends a CAN-FD Bus message to the Smart Lighting Modules (SLMs), through the CAN-FD4 Bus. The SLMs then activates the requested lamps in the front lamp units or sidemarker lamps.
The SLMs are serviced separately from the front lamp units. For additional information on the exterior lamps and lighting system. Refer to EXTERIOR LAMPS AND LIGHTING, DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION .
