Diagnostic Test

2023 Jeep Compass LimitedSECTION Diagnostic Test
  1. READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN 
    1. With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
    2. With the scan tool, run a vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
    3. With the scan tool, erase all TBM2 DTCs.
    4. Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10.0 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition on.
    6. Using the recorded Environmental Data and the When Monitored Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    7. With the scan tool, read TBM2 DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. CHECK THE ANTENNA CONNECTION 
    NOTE:

    Before performing the diagnostic test, please make sure that 9977-6-CELL-UPD 10K OHM jumper is connected to the 9977-6-CELL test antenna. Do NOT use the 9977-6-CELL-UPD 10K OHM jumper when using the 9977-6- CELL LTE test antenna.

    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Antenna connector at the back of the EAM.
    3. Inspect the Antenna connections.

      Are the Antenna connections clean and secure?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3

      No 

      • Repair the Antenna connection as needed.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  3. CHECK THE ANTENNA AND CABLE 
    1. Connect the 9977-6-CELL test antenna (special tool #9977-6-CELL, Adapter, Cellular Antenna Diagnostic)IF the special tool is not available  connect the 9977-6-CELL LTE (special tool #9977-6-CELL-LTE, Adapter, Cellular Antenna Diagnostic) and adapter cable (special tool #9977-6-13, Adapter, Long RF RG-58 Fakra) to the antenna connection on the back of the EAM.
    2. Using the scan tool, erase the DTCs.
    3. Turn the ignition on.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      • Go To  5

      No 

      • Go To  4
  4. TEST THE ANTENNA CABLE 
    1. Disconnect the Antenna cable at the base.
    2. Connect the appropriate (special tool #9977-6-1, Adapter) or (special tool #9977-6-3, Adapter) to the Antenna cable at the back of the EAM.
    3. Connect the appropriate (special tool #9977-6-4, Jumper) or (special tool #9977-6-2, Jumper) to the Antenna cable at the Antenna base.
    4. Measure the Resistance across the tool terminals.

      Is the resistance above 52.5 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Use the (special tool #9977-6, Kit, Radio Antenna Diagnostic) to locate the open circuit, repair or replace the Antenna cable as necessary.
      • Once the repair is complete clear all DTCs.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Replace the Antenna base in accordance with the Service Information.
      • Once the repair is complete clear all DTCs.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  5. GLOBAL TELEMATICS BOX MODULE (TBM2) 
    1. Visually inspect the terminals on the TBM2.
    2. Ensure the terminal is clean and free of any corrosion or damage.
      • Is the terminal free of corrosion and damage?

      Yes 

      No
