In vehicles equipped with the optional PEKG system, a Sentry Key antenna is not used and the RFH transmits the valid or invalid key message on the CAN-C data bus when the ignition transitions from OFF to RUN.
When the status of the ignition switch (KIN) is ON, the SKIS control circuitry transmits an RF signal to the transponder in the FOBIK by way of the LF antennas. The SKIS then waits for an RF signal response from the transponder. If the response received identifies the FOBIK as valid, the SKIS control circuitry sends a valid key message to the PCM over the CAN-C data bus. If the response received identifies the key as invalid, or if no response is received from the key transponder, the SKIS sends an electronic invalid keyΒ message to the PCM which prevents the engine from starting.
Inputs:
- Key transponder traffic from KIN
- TRM_Code request from BCM
- Ignition and operational mode status
- Odometer total request
- FOBIK validation request
Outputs:
- TRM_Code response to BCM
- Key transponder ID info
- Key programming status (FOBIK low battery message)
