Fuel System Pressure Release
2009 Jeep Wrangler X, AutomaticSECTION Fuel System Pressure Release
Use following procedure if the fuel injector rail is, or is not equipped with a fuel pressure test port.
- Remove fuel fill cap.
- Disconnect wiring harness leading to fuel pump module at top of fuel tank. Refer to SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS for connector location.
- Start and run engine until it stalls.
- Attempt restarting engine until it will no longer run.
- Turn ignition key to OFF position.
- Place a rag or towel below fuel line quick-connect fitting at fuel rail.
- Disconnect quick-connect fitting at fuel rail. Refer to FITTING, Quick Connect .
- After performing service procedure, reconnect fuel pump module.
- One or more Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) may have been stored in PCM memory due to the disconnection of fuel pump module. A diagnostic scan tool must be used to erase a DTC.
