An individual ignition coil (1) is used for each pair of spark plugs. Each coil attaches directly to the top of the eight upper  bank of spark plugs. Secondary cables (3) connect each coil to the eight lower  bank of spark plugs. The coils themselves fit into machined holes in the cylinder head. Each coil also has its own individual electrical connector (2).
