FLASH: Spark Knock Improvements And Noise Vibration Harshness (NVH) Improvements
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

2009 DS Ram Truck 1500
2009 (WK) Grand Cherokee
2009 (WH) Grand Cherokee (International Markets)
2009 (XK) Commander
2009 (XH) Commander (International Markets)
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built with a 5.7L engine (sales code EZD) on WK/WH/XK/XH built before October 28, 2008 (1028XX MDH) or DS vehicles built before October 3, 2008 (1003XX MDH).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some customers may experience:
^ NVH issues while the vehicle is operating in the MDS mode.
^ Spark Knock between 1800 to 2500 RPM.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (StarSCAN(R)) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify all engine systems are functioning as designed. If DTC's are present other then the one listed above record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.
If no DTC's are present, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Reprogram the PCM with the latest software. Follow the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT/TECHCONNECT, Refer To 8 - Electrical/Electronic Control Modules/Powertrain Control Module - Standard Procedure PCM/ECM Programming - Gas.
2. Type the necessary information on the "Authorized Modification Label" p/n 04275086AB and attach it near the VECI label.

Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
