2008 Jeep Commander 4WD V6-3.7LSECTION Removal






REMOVAL





1. Remove differential from housing.
2. Remove left hand thread ring gear bolts.
3. Drive ring gear of the case with a soft hammer.
4. Bend pinion nut lock tab back.
5. Remove pinion flange (1) nut with flange Wrench C-3281 (2).




6. Remove pinion flange (1) with Puller C-452 (2).




7. Drive pinion gear out of the housing with a soft hammer.
8. Remove pinion seal (1) with a pry bar (2).




9. Remove collapsible spacer (1) from pinion shaft (2).




10. Remove spacer (1) from pinion shaft (2).




11. Remove rear pinion bearing from pinion shaft (1) with Puller C-293-PA (2) and four Adapters C-293-37.




12. Remove front pinion bearing cup (1) with Handle C-4171 (2) and Remover D-103 (3).




13. Remove rear pinion bearing cup (1) with Remover 9084 (2) and Handle C-4171.




14. Remove pinion height select shim (1) from rear pinion bearing cup bore (2).
