Steering Column: Overhaul: Notes

CAUTION: Manufacturer does not recommend overhaul of steering column on Grand Cherokee. If service is required, replace steering column as an assembly. Steering wheel, switches and wiring can be serviced separately.

The following steering column components can be serviced without removing column from vehicle.

  • Lockplate Cover
  • Lockplate
  • Steering Shaft Retaining Ring
  • Canceling Cam
  • Turn Signal Switch
  • Upper Bearing Preload Spring
  • Ignition Key/Lock Cylinder

When to See a Mechanic
