How to Reach the Speed Control Menu or Charging Menu

In order to perform all the tests, you must operate the DRBII to reach the SPEED CONTROL MENU or CHARGING MENU level within the engine diagnostic program. At the SPEED CONTROL MENU or CHARGING MENU, you can:
- read fault messages
- select DRBII test functions
The instructions below tell you how to reach the SPEED CONTROL MENU or CHARGING MENU.
If you already know how to reach the SPEED CONTROL MENU or CHARGING MENU, see "How to Select a DRBII Test Function" found later in this HELP 1 for instructions on how to select a DRBII test function.
A. Connect the DRBII to the vehicle by plugging the DRBII connector into the engine diagnostic connector. The location of the connector within the engine compartment varies depending on body type.
B. Turn the vehicle's ignition switch to the "RUN" position.
NOTE: Do not touch the keypad during the DRBII power-up sequence or an error will result.
C. The copyright date and diagnostics program version number will be displayed briefly similar to the following:

NOTE: The version number (V2.FO) is subject to change. It may not appear on the display exactly as it is illustrated above.
D. After a few seconds, the display will change to read as follows (or press ENTER to change the display immediately):

Press the down arrow twice to view the rest of the menu. The screen will display:

3) CONFIGURE
4) SELECT SYSTEM
NOTE: For explanation of items 1), 2), and 3), see "How to Use the DRBII Menu" found later in this HELP 1.
E. Select 4) SELECT SYSTEM to enter the diagnostic test program. The display will change to read as follows:

1) ENGINE
2) TRANSMISSION
F. Select 1) ENGINE to enter the engine system part of the DRBII program. The display will change to read similar to the following:

NOTE: The exact wording of this screen will vary depending upon the engine package in the particular vehicle that is being diagnosed. After a few seconds, the display will change to read as follows (or press ENTER to change the display immediately):
G. Select 1) WITH A/C or 2) WITHOUT A/C depending upon whether the vehicle being diagnosed has air conditioning or not. The display will change to read as follows:
Press the down arrow once again to view the rest of the menu. The screen will display:
- -ENGINE SYSTEM - -
1) FUEL/IGNITION
2) CHARGING
3) SPEED CONTROL
H. Select 2) CHARGING or 3) SPEED CONTROL to bring up a menu of the DRBII test categories for either the speed control or charging system. The display will change to read as follows:
- XXXXXXXXX MENU -
1) SYSTEM TEST
2) READ FAULTS
NOTE: The menu will be named for the system that was selected (either SPEED CONTROL or CHARGING).
Press the down arrow three times to view the rest of the menu. The screen will display:
At this point, you have reached the SPEED CONTROL MENU or CHARGING MENU of the ENGINE diagnostic program. Now you can select any of the specific test functions that have been programmed into the DRBII cartridge.
