(1) Fifth character of Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). VIN is stamped on a metal pad on top left end of instrument panel, near windshield.
NOTE: Axle ratio can be identified by the first 3 characters of code that is stamped on axle tube. Refer to the appropriate AXLE RATIO IDENTIFICATIONΒ  table. Drive axle is match-balanced with pinion flange (creates a harmonic member that reduces driveline vibration). When replacing ring and pinion gear set, pinion flange assembly, or pinion bearings, replace entire axle assembly with a match-balanced axle assembly.
