NOTE:
Replace all oil seals, lock nuts, roll pins and snap rings when transmission is overhauled.
- Place NEW gasket on front of intermediate plate. Align bearing outer races, shift fork shaft ends and reverse idler gear with holes in transmission case. Install case against intermediate plate, tapping on case with plastic hammer (if necessary).
- Install NEW front bearing snap ring on outside of transmission housing. Install front bearing retainer with NEW gasket. Loctite front bearing retainer bolts and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ . Install NEW gasket on back of intermediate plate. Install adapter or extension housing.
- Tighten adapter or extension housing bolts to specification. Install shift arm into adapter or extension housing. Install shift arm lock plate and tighten set bolt to specification. Install shift arm pivot shaft. Install and tighten shaft plug to specification.
- Install detent ball and spring into adapter housing. Loctite detent plug, install and tighten to specification. Ensure input and output shafts rotate smoothly. Ensure shifting can be done smoothly into all gears. Install clutch housing and tighten bolts evenly to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ .
