Check fluid level at each engine oil change. When operated under normal conditions, passenger car transmissions do not require periodic service. However, under heavy duty conditions, transmission should be drained, refilled, and bands adjusted every 15,000 miles.

Trucks and Vans used in normal, light duty service require transmission servicing (fluid drained and refilled, bands adjusted) every 37,500 miles. Under normal heavy conditions, service transmission every 24,000 miles. Vehicles subjected to severe heavy duty conditions should have transmission serviced every 12,000 miles.
