Disabling & Activating Air Bag System

1994 Jaguar XJ6 BaseSECTION Disabling & Activating Air Bag System
NOTE: Use the following procedure to disable air bag module for steering column or steering wheel service.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. To disable air bag module, open disarming mechanism cover on back of steering wheel. Using Torx screwdriver, turn arming screw counterclockwise until it stops (approximately 12 turns). See Fig 1 . Air bag module is now disabled.
  2. To activate air bag module, turn arming screw clockwise approximately 12 turns until it stops. Tighten screw to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ  table. Reconnect negative battery cable.
