Removal Procedure

2006 Isuzu Ascender S, 5.3 M, 4WDSECTION Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the coolant from the radiator. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LL8)Β  or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LH6, LS2)Β .
  2. Remove the lower radiator support shield, if equipped. Refer to Radiator Support Shield Replacement .

  4. Remove the transmission cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection for the 4L60-E/4L65-E transmission.
  5. Reposition the outlet radiator hose clamp using J 38185Β  . See Special ToolsΒ .
  6. Remove the outlet radiator hose (1) from the radiator.
  7. Lower the vehicle.

  9. Reposition the inlet radiator hose clamp using J 38185Β  . See Special ToolsΒ .
  10. Remove the inlet radiator hose from the radiator.
  11. Remove the cooling fan and shroud. Refer to Cooling Fan and Shroud ReplacementΒ .
  12. Remove the air inlet grille. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement .

  14. Remove the coolant recovery line from the radiator.

  16. Remove the upper radiator to condenser bolts.
  17. Lift upward on the condenser to remove from the radiator retaining tab.
  18. Remove the radiator.
