- Record all of the customers radio station presets.
- Turn OFF all the lamps and accessories.
- Ensure that the ignition switch is in the OFF position.
- Slide the engine control module (ECM) retainer rearward, disengaging the retainer from the battery shield.
- Remove the ECM retainer from the top of the battery shield.
- Carefully reposition the ECM and retainer out of the way.
- Disengage the battery shield rear snap retainers (1).
- Remove the battery shield.
- Loosen the negative battery cable terminal nut.
- Remove the negative battery cable lead (1) from the battery.
