Repair procedures: Removal

2011 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS, 3.5 G, AWDSECTION Removal

  1. Remove the following items;
    1. Engine cover (A) and the duct (B). (Refer to INTAKE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM .)
    2. Air cleaner assembly (C). (Refer to INTAKE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM .)
    3. Battery and battery tray (D). (Refer to CHARGING SYSTEM .)

  2. Remove the ground line after removing the bolt (A).

  3. Remove the shift cable (C) after removing the nut (A) and the bolt (B).

    Tightening torque:Β 

    1. 7.8 ~ 11.8 N.m (0.8 ~ 1.2 kgf.m, 5.8 ~ 8.7 lb-ft)
    2. 14.7 ~21.6 N.m (1.5 ~2.2 kgf.m, 10.9 ~15.9 lb-ft)

  4. Disconnect the solenoid valve connector (B) and inhibitor switch connector (A).

  5. Disconnect the hose (B) after removing the automatic transaxle fluid cooler hose clamp (A).

  6. Remove the automatic transaxle upper mounting bolt (B).
  7. Remove the start motor mounting bolt (A). (Refer to STARTING SYSTEM .)

    Tightening torque:Β 

    1. 42.2 ~ 54.0 N.m (4.3 ~5.5 kgf.m, 31.1 ~ 39.8 lb-ft)
    2. 49.0 ~ 63.7 N.m (5.0 ~6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 ~ 47.0 lb-ft)

  8. Using the SST (09200-38001), hold the engine and transaxle assembly safely.

  9. Remove the automatic transaxle mounting support bracket bolt (A).

    Tightening torque:Β 

    78.5 ~ 107.9 N.m (8.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 57.9 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)

  10. Remove the under cover (A).

  11. Remove the following items;
    1. Front wheels. (Refer to TIRES/WHEELS .)
    2. Sub frame assembly. (Refer to FRONT SUSPENSION SYSTEM .)
    3. Drive shaft assembly from the automatic transaxle assembly. (Refer to DRIVESHAFT ASSEMBLY .)
    4. Propeller shaft. (Refer to PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY .)
    5. In the case of 4WD vehicle, remove the transfer assembly. (Refer to TRANSFER ASSEMBLY .)
  12. Remove the side cover (A).

  13. Remove the dust cover. (A)

  14. Remove the torque converter mounting bolt (A) (6ea) with rotating the crankshaft.

    Tightening torque:Β 

    45.1 ~ 52.0 N.m (4.6 ~ 5.3 kgf.m, 33.3 ~ 38.3 lb-ft)

  15. Remove the automatic transaxle with a jack after removing the lower mounting bolt (A-4ea, B-2ea).

    Tightening torque:Β 

    1. 34.3 ~ 41.2 N.m (3.5 ~ 4.2 kgf.m, 25.3 ~ 30.4 lb-ft)
    2. 78.5 ~ 98.1 N.m (8.0 ~ 10.0 kgf.m, 57.9 ~ 72.4 lb-ft)
