Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
Traction Control System
In traction control mode, when drive wheel speed exceeds a given amount, the HECU determines that the drive wheels are slipping and outputs a signal to reduce engine power.
The TCS system uses ABS system self-diagnostic system and fail-safe system to aid in servicing. When system detects a malfunction, HECU disables traction control and allows normal braking only. System then stores a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) and illuminates TCS warning light. DTCs are retrieved for diagnosis through use of a HI-SCAN (PRO) or generic scan tool. See DIAGNOSIS & TESTINGΒ . For description of TCS control system operational modes. See Fig 1 .
