Compressor HVAC: Service and Repair

LOCATION

REMOVAL

NOTE: Plug all of the open fittings immediately after removal to keep moisture out of the system




1. Discharge refrigerant from the refrigeration system.
2. Disconnect the magnetic clutch connect connector.
3. Lift up the vehicle.
4. Loosen the locking nut of the tensioner.
5. Sufficiently lessen the tension of the compressor drive belt by turning the tension adjusting bolt counterclockwise.




6. Lower the vehicle
7. Derail the compressor drive belt from the compressor pulley.




8. Disconnect the suction hose fitting from the compressor.
9. Disconnect the discharge hose fitting from the compressor.




10. Remove compressor mounting bolts.
11. Remove the compressor assembly.

INSTALLATION
Installation is the reverse order of removal.

NOTE:
1. Replace O-ring of the disconnected fittings and apply specified lubricant.




2. While installation, observe specified tightening torques for the bolts or nuts.




3. After installation, adjust the compressor drive belt tension.
4. Evacuate, charge and test the air conditioning system. Refer to Service and Repair.
