CODE DEFINITION - DTC 62, 63, 64, 65

Code Definition
DTC 62 OPEN/SHORT TO BATTERY IN LF WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT
DTC 63 OPEN/SHORT TO BATTERY IN RF WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT
DTC 64 OPEN/SHORT TO BATTERY IN LR WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT
DTC 65 OPEN/SHORT TO BATTERY IN RR WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect suspect wheel speed sensor connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between wheel speed sensor terminals. Resistance should be 1275-1495 ohms (front sensor) or 1260-1540 ohms (rear sensor). If resistance is not as specified, replace sensor. If resistance is as specified, go to next step.
  2. Measure voltage between ground and suspect wheel speed sensor terminals. If voltage is zero volts, go to next step. If voltage is more than zero volts, locate and repair short to voltage in sensor wiring.
  3. Connect wheel speed sensor connector. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS ECM connector. ABS ECM is located at lower left side of instrument panel. Measure resistance between ABS ECM connector terminals. See TESTING WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CIRCUITSΒ  table. See Figure . If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, repair wiring as necessary.
    TESTING WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CIRCUITS

Application Measure Between ABS ECM Terminals No. Ohms
    Left Front Sensor 32 & 34 1275-1495
    Left Rear Sensor 3 & 29 1260-1540
    Right Front Sensor 1 & 31 1275-1495
    Right Rear Sensor 36 & 37 1260-1540
  4. Measure voltage between ABS ECM connector terminals. See CHECKING ABS ECM VOLTAGEΒ  table. If all voltage readings are zero volts, no fault is indicated at this time. Fault may be intermittent. If any voltage reading is more than zero volts, locate and repair short to voltage in wiring harness.

When to See a Mechanic

Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

  • β€’ You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
  • β€’ Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
  • β€’ The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
  • β€’ You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
  • β€’ You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
