Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
Transmission Control Module (TCM)
The TCM receives information from input devices and transmits electrical signal to appropriate Shift Control Solenoid Valves (SCSV) and Pressure Control Solenoid Valve (PCSV) to control transaxle shifting. Shift control and pressure control solenoid valves are mounted on valve body assembly. The TCM controls damper clutch (torque converter lock-up) by operating Damper Clutch Control Solenoid Valve (DCCSV), located on valve body assembly.
The TCM contains self-diagnostic system, which stores fault code if failure or problem exists in transaxle electronic control system. Fault code may be retrieved to determine transaxle problem area. Fault code may be referred to as Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). For information on self-diagnostic system, see SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMΒ . TCM is located under instrument panel, left of steering wheel.
