The power control module (PCM) monitors the clutch pedal position switch A signal to switch the starting system from auto control mode to manual mode when it malfunctions. When the PCM cannot detect an OFF signal from clutch pedal position switch A while the clutch pedal is released, the detection continues after the vehicle is turned to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
