DTC C1C20-62  : Neutral Sensor Failure

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information .

C1C20-62 Neutral Sensor Failure    

DTCs (VSA)

  1. DTC check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -4. Test-drive the vehicle at 19 mph (30 km/h) or more for 60 seconds or more.

    NOTE:  Drive the vehicle on the road, not on a lift.

    -5. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    U0029-00 CAN Communication Failure (Bus OFF)    
    U0100-00 CAN Communication Failure with ECM/ISU    
    C1C20-62 Neutral Sensor Failure    

    Is DTC C1C20-62 indicated?

    YES 

    If DTC C1C20-62 is only indicated, go to step 2.

    YES 

    If DTC U0029-00 or U0100-00 are also indicated, go to U0029-00  or U0100-00 .

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting . If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the Freeze data/on-board snapshot.

  2. PGM-FI system parameter check

    -1. Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.

    Status of Neutral Position    

    Does the parameter changes when the shift lever is in neutral, and then shift lever is not in neutral?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Check the installation of the neutral position sensor .

  3. VSA modulator-control unit check

    -1. Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.

    Signal Current conditions
    Values Unit
    NEUTRAL SWITCH STATUS    

    Does the parameter changes when the shift lever is in neutral, and then shift lever is not in neutral?

    YES 

    The system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting.

    NO 

    Check for loose terminals and poor connections in the VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting. If they are OK, replace the VSA modulator-control unit .
