Engine Oil Pressure Test (K20C2): Test
If the low oil pressure indicator stays on with the engine running, check the engine oil level . If the oil level is correct:
- Oil Pressure Switch - Remove
- Engine Oil Pressure - Test
1. Install the oil pressure gauge (A) as shown.
2. Start the engine. Shut it off immediately if the gauge registers no oil pressure. Repair the problem before continuing.
3. Allow the engine to reach operating temperature (fan comes on at least twice). The pressure should be:
Engine Oil Temperature: 176 deg.F (80 deg.C) Engine Oil Pressure
At Idle: 90 kPa (0.92 kgf/cm 2, 13.1 psi) min. At 3, 000 rpm: 450 kPa (4.59 kgf/cm 2, 65.3 psi) min. 4. If oil pressure is out of specifications, inspect these items:
- Oil filter blocked or plugged.
- Oil strainer blocked or plugged.
- Inspect the oil pump relief valve .
- Oil Pressure Gauge - Remove
- All Removed Parts - Install
1. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

When to See a Mechanic
