Carpet Replacement

- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.
- Take care not to damage, wrinkle or twist the carpet.
- Be careful not to damage the dashboard and other interior trim pieces.
- Remove these items:
- Front seats, both sides (see FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- Rear seat assembly (see REAR SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- Front door sill trim, both sides (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS )
- Rear door sill trim, both sides (see step 4 )
- B-pillar lower trim, both sides (see B-pillar Trim )
- Kick panel, both sides (see step 3 )
- Center console (see CENTER CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- Dashboard center lower cover (see DASHBOARD CENTER LOWER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- Rear seat leg guide cover (see REAR SEAT LEG GUIDE REPLACEMENT )
- Detach the hooks (A), then remove the footrest plate (B).
- Remove the nut (A), and using a 6 mm socket wrench, release the clip (B), then remove the footrest (C).
- Remove the carpet (A).
- 1 Remove the clips.
- 2 Pull back the rear passenger's area of the carpet.
- 3 Pull back the carpet from under the dashboard.
- 4 Pull both seat wire harnesses (B) out through the slit in the carpet.
Front area
Rear area
- If necessary, remove the screw, then remove the tie-down hook (A) from each side.
- Install the carpet in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Take care not to damage, wrinkle or twist the carpet.
- Replace any damaged clips.
- Slip the seat harnesses through the slit in the carpet correctly.
- Push the clips into place securely.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:
- • You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
- • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
- • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
- • You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
