NOTE:
This signal informs PCM when transaxle is shifted into reverse.
- Turn ignition on. Check back-up lights. If back-up lights are not on when transaxle is not in reverse, go to next step. If back-up lights are on when transaxle is not in reverse, check reverse position switch and adjust, repair or replace as necessary. See ADJUSTMENTS in appropriate MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS SERVICING article in MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS. If back-up lights are not on, shift transaxle into reverse and check back-up lights. If back-up lights come on, go to next step. If back-up lights do not come on, go to step Β 3.
- Backprobing, measure voltage between PCM connector "B" (25-pin connector) terminals No. 20 (Brown/Black wire) and No. 24 (Green/Black wire). See Figure. If battery voltage is present, problem is intermittent. Reverse position switch signal is okay at this time. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Green/Black wire between reverse position switch and PCM connectors. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
- Inspect No. 27 (7.5-amp) fuse in underdash fuse/relay box. If fuse is okay, repair open in Yellow/Red wire between underhood fuse/relay box and 16-pin in-line connector located under center of instrument panel and Yellow wire between 16-pin in-line connector and reverse position switch connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If fuse is not okay, repair short in Green/Black wire between reverse position switch and PCM connectors and/or short in Yellow/Red wire between underhood fuse/relay box and 16-pin in-line connector located under center of instrument panel and Yellow wire between 16-pin in-line connector and reverse position switch connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Replace No. 27 (7.5-amp) fuse.
