Ignition Distributor:
PURPOSE
Acts as a rotary switch, distributing the firing voltage using a distributor rotor and distributor cap in a pre-set sequence.
LOCATION
Driven by the camshaft and located right side of cylinder head.
OPERATION
A microcomputer determines the timing in response to engine speed and manifold vacuum. The input signals are transmitted by the TDC/CKP/CYP sensor, THROTTLE POSITION sensor, ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE sensor and MAP sensor. This system, which is not dependent on a governor or vacuum diaphragm, is capable of setting lead angles with complicated characteristics which cannot be provided by conventional governors of diaphragms.
