Circuit/System Testing
2021 GMC Terrain SLT, 4WDSECTION Circuit/System Testing
NOTE:
- Circuit/System Verification MUST be performed prior to performing Circuit/System Testing.
- Some control module ground circuits may require up to 20 min after the ignition is turned off before achieving a resistance reading of less than 5 Ω. In most cases the readings will drop below 20 Ω within 1 min indicating the control module is going to sleep.
- Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF.
- Test for less than 2 Ω between the C1 Battery negative post and battery clamp.
- If 2 Ω or greater
Repair the high resistance in the connection.
- Go to next step: If less than 2 Ω
- If 2 Ω or greater
- Disconnect the C1 Battery.
- Test for less than 2 Ω between the B110 Battery Sensor Module clamp and B110 Battery Sensor Module ground circuit terminal 1 X2.
- If 2 Ω or greater
Replace B110 Battery Sensor Module.
- Go to next step: If less than 2 Ω
- If 2 Ω or greater
- Connect the C1 Battery.
- Disconnect the X1 connector at the B110 Battery Sensor Module.
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between B+ circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is good
- Test the circuit 1642 for an open/high resistance.
- If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If an open or high resistance is not found
- Verify the fuse is not open and there is voltage at the fuse.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is open
- Test the circuit 1642 for a short to ground
- If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found
- Replace the B110 Battery Sensor Module.
- Go to next step: If the test lamp illuminates
- Replace the B110 Battery Sensor Module.
