Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and ConnectionΒ 
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
1 Battery Terminal Nut
CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

Tighten:Β  9 N.m (80 lb in)

2 Starter Bolt (Qty: 2)

Tighten:Β  50 N.m (37 lb ft)

3 Starter

Procedure

  • Disconnect the S terminal harness connector from the starter.
  • NOTE: Orient the B+ terminal Harness anti rotation tab to the starter orientation slot.
  • Remove the B+ terminal harness from the starter.
  • NOTE: The starter motor bracked shield snaps into place on the starter solenoid.
  • Remove the starter motor bracket shield from the starter.
