  1. Disconnect the negative battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and ConnectionΒ .
  2. Remove the upper fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Upper Shroud Replacement (4.3L, 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L, 7.0L) .
  3. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .

  5. Remove the generator bolts (1).
  6. Remove the generator front support bracket attached to the generator bracket and the generator.
  7. Reposition the generator to access wiring.
  8. Remove the positive battery cable nut from the generator.
  9. Disconnect the generator electrical connector.
  10. Remove the generator (2).
