2011 GMC Savana Special 4.8 ASECTION Removal Procedure (Battery, Charging System And Starting System)

WARNING: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning .
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and ConnectionΒ 
  2. Remove the upper fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Upper Shroud Replacement (4.3L, 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L, 7.0L) .
  3. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .

  5. Disconnect the auxiliary generator electrical connector (1).
  6. Slide the protective boot cover (2) down the positive battery cable.
  7. Remove the B+ positive battery cable nut (3) and terminal (4) from the back of the auxiliary generator.

  9. Remove the auxiliary generator bolts (1).
  10. Remove the auxiliary generator (2).
