Installation Procedure
- Install the positive battery cable to the vehicle.NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
- Install the positive battery cable nut to the engine.
Tighten
Tighten the positive battery cable nut to 6 N.m (80 lb in).
- Install the nut retaining the positive battery cable to the starter.
Tighten
Tighten the positive battery cable nut to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the nut retaining the positive battery cable to the generator.
Tighten
Tighten the positive battery cable nut to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).
- Install the nut retaining the positive battery cable to the underhood fuse block.
Tighten
Tighten the positive battery cable nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Connect the positive battery cable to the battery.
Tighten
Tighten the positive terminal bolt to 14 N.m (11 lb ft).
- Connect the negative battery cable to the battery.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

- • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
- • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
