  1. Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check-Engine Controls? If yes, go to next step. If no, see DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK - ENGINE CONTROLSΒ  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Are there any other DTCs set? If yes, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONSΒ  . If no, go to next step.
  3. Clear all of the codes and reset the injection timing until the TDC offset is between the specified values. See FUEL INJECTION PUMP TOP DEAD CENTER OFFSET ADJUSTMENTΒ  under PROGRAMMING. Is the timing -0.25 to -0.75? If yes, go to step Β 6 . If no, go to next step.
  4. Check the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor for the following conditions:
    • Proper installation.
    • A loose or broken sensor mounting tab.

    Repair the condition as necessary. Did you perform a repair? If yes, go to step Β 6 . If no, go to next step.

  5. NOTE: The new injection pump must be timed. See appropriate ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article.
  6. Replace the fuel injection pump. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article. After repairs, go to next step.
  7. Using the scan tool, clear the DTCs. Start engine and idle the engine at the normal operating temperature. Select DTC and the Specific DTC function. Enter the DTC number that was set. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Setting DTC until the scan tool indicates the diagnostic ran. Does the scan tool indicate the diagnostic passed? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step Β 2 .
  8. Observe the stored information, Capture Info with a scan tool. Does the scan tool display any DTCs that you have not diagnosed? If yes, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONSΒ  . If no, system is okay.
