The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. 2. This DTC will set when there is a short to ground in the SECURITY indicator control circuit. Diagnose DTC B0687 if set as a current code before diagnosing DTC B0689.
  2. 3. Verifies the condition for setting the DTC is current.
  3. 5. Checks for an open in the security indicator control circuit or for a faulty theft deterrent control module module.
  4. 6. Checks for an open bulb filament.
