Installation Procedure

1999 GMC Forward Control 5.7 R, AutomaticSECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Install the exhaust crossover pipe.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Install the exhaust crossover pipe nuts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  3. Install the exhaust crossover heat shield.
  4. Install the exhaust crossover heat shield bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the thermostat bypass pipe. Refer to THERMOSTAT BYPASS PIPES REPLACEMENT in Engine Cooling.
  6. Install the air cleaner intake duct.
